Favorite Movie Monday

This is the last Monday for December and there are so many Christmas movies I like. Some of my favorites that didn't get a spot are: The Santa Clause, Miracle on 34th Street, Step Mom, and A Christmas Story.

While You Were Sleeping starring Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman, Peter Gallagher, and Peter Boyle

I like this movie even when its not around the holidays. The "Leaning" scene is one of my favorites! My family and I bring it up in normal conversation once in awhile anyway. haha.

Favorite Movie Monday

It's a Wonderful Life starring James Stewart

I love this scene. This is one of my sister's absolute favorite movies! She had me watch it, and I loved it! Released in 1947!

Clarence: Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?

Little girl with the same name

So. There's this little girl that comes in with her mom and brothers and sisters at my work. A few days ago was about the fourth time I had talked to her. Every time she comes up and talks to me and says, "Your name's Ashley?" And I say, "Yes, what's your name?" Or "Yes, and so's yours?" Cos I remember her now. Its funny.
This last time she came in was interesting. She followed me around putting dresses away and asked me a lot of questions. She asked me, "Why do people leave their clothes here?" And I said something like, "Because they try them on and don't like them and don't want to put them away." And she said, "That's dumb. Do people really try things on over there and not in the bathroom (meaning fitting room)?" She then told me what times tables she knew and which ones she didn't and asked me them. She asked me what 300 times 400 was and she told me I was so smart. haha.
Then she told me her full name and she's Hispanic and said it super fast so I had to tell her to slow down. Then she told me she was in 3rd grade and I asked her, "So are you 9?" And she got a little embarrassed and said "No, I'm 8." So then I asked her when her birthday was... She said, "July 8th." For those of you that don't know, that's my birthday too. So I was surprised and said, "REALLY? That's my birthday too. That's crazy!" And she got a huge smile on her face and I don't know if she really believed me. But it was really funny. That was one of the good days at work.
Speaking of work, I'd rather not go. Yuck. Yuck. I work 49 hours this week with only Wednesday off. Blah! I have 3 more tests to take for school. Not exciting. But I am excited for the semester to be over!!! Only 11 days until Christmas. I better get shopping! I have my sister done, and part of my Mom. That's it.. :/

Work, School, and Christmas is coming!

I realize I write about work and school a bit too much. I am so sick of my work. If anyone has any job ideas, I would LOVE to hear them. School is almost over this semester! I am so glad! The only huge downside is, I don't have enough money to pay off this semester still. What that means is, I'm not able to attend Spring semester 2010. Ugh. Graduation is so far away. I need more of that green stuff.

Only 16 days until Christmas! Wow! That is crazy! It has come so fast! I do not have my shopping done at all. I only have my sister's birthday and Christmas finished! I did find something else I want for Christmas though! This Bob Marley hoodie from Hot Topic. I LOVE it.

I also dyed my hair yesterday. Not purple. Its just dark brown, all of it. It looks a lot better. I love it too. I should probably be doing Medical Terminology right now.

I am excited for Christmas. We put up our tree Saturday and decorated it on Sunday. We're having Christmas breakfast at our house this year so I'm glad. I love breakfast. I have so many things I'm going to buy for my cats, they will be easy to buy for. But the parents? And my brother? Not so easy. :/

Favorite Movie Monday

Its the first Monday of December, so I thought I would do a theme. My favorite holiday movies! :) SO, here's the first.

Prancer starring Sam Elliott, Cloris Leachman, and Rebecca Harrell

I love this movie! I used to watch it all the time around Christmas!

Also, today is the day when Pearl Harbor was bombed in 1941. That was a long 68 years ago. Five of Eight battleships were demolished, and more than 200 aircraft were completely destroyed. 2,400 Americans were killed and 1,200 were wounded. In WWII, America lost 400,000 lives during four very long years. Remember those who fought for our freedom.

December already?!

I don't have any more blogs scheduled to post so I thought I'd write another one today. I'm sick. again. with a stupid. stupid. cold. It started on Thanksgiving. It is no bueno. I have a lot of homework to do.. And classes are almost over which is exciting but at the same time overwhelming because of time constraints.

Oliver, my sister's cat is now sleeping in her room. Gigi and Simba still sleep in my room. Why? Because Oliver has been having this problem.. He pees on my blankets, anywhere. I don't know if its a behavioral issue or if he has a bladder infection or what. So we bought another litter box just for him, that worked for awhile. But then he did it again. So now we're trying separate rooms at night. Hopefully this works. Any suggestions? If this doesn't work, we'll have to take him to the vet to see what's up.

So I bought a couple things on my Christmas List already. Ooops! haha. I bought my beloved mia gelato boots, they are fantastic! And Adam Lambert, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga's new albums. They are good. I was expecting more from Lambert but his music is still great. I was just expecting more rocker, I think I would enjoy that more. So cross those few things off my list!

ITS DECEMBER 1ST! Can you believe it? This year has gone by so fast. Its crazy! I am still looking for another job so if anyone can clue me in on some openings that would be fabulous. Is everyone ready for Christmas?? I'm not. I only have my sister done. That's it. Eeek! Oh, and I do NOT want snow to come. Please do not come. You are not welcome.

I got my hair cut. Now I need it dyed. Should I go for purple? haha. Alright. I'm outta here.

This is my December
This is my time of the year
This is my December
This is all so clear

Favorite Movie Monday

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, and Taraji P. Henson

Life isn't measured in minutes, but in moments.

A newer movie. It has such great color schemes, storyline, acting, directing, and wardrobe! It tells a story about a little boy that was born an old man, as the story progresses, as he ages he keeps getting younger. Its a great story.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving. I can't believe its already here! This year will be different. My family is having Thanksgiving dinner at my Uncle's mom-in-laws house. It will be interesting. I am excited though because my Uncle Steve is coming! He lives in California and we don't get to see him too often. I actually don't enjoy Turkey off the bird. But I absolutely love stuffing and apple pie. YUM!

A few things I'm thankful for:
  • My family
  • A house over my head
  • My job, even if I despise it
  • My cats
  • My friends
I hope everyone is having a great holiday and don't eat too much! Tomorrow is Black Friday and I have to work at 6 AM!

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." - Buddha

I'm here for your entertainment & Christmas List!

Music, Music, Music, I love thee! I am so excited for all the great new music coming out! Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment, out 11/23. Rihanna's Russian Roulette, out 11/23 as well! Allison Iraheta's Just Like You, out 12/1. 30 Seconds to Mars' This is War, out 12/8. And Puddle of Mudd's Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate, out 12/8.

These are all on my Christmas List, because frankly, I don't have the money for all of them. You can go to any of their websites and give them a listen! Speaking of Christmas Lists, I made one. Its a bit long. Some items that topped the list:

Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince DVD

Fast & Furious 2 disc edition DVD

The albums above of course

A new DVD player since mine is no longer working :(

and these boots, Mia Gelato, I absolutely adore at Macy's

Update and I miss you Gramps

I seriously suck at blogging lately. I have been overwhelmed with school and working the past month or more. I haven't even posted the Phoenix pictures yet. I suck. I admit it. BUT! I have a four day weekend for some reason, the stars must love me or something this week. Well, maybe they don't. I had yesterday, today, Sunday, and Monday off of work! Time to do a bunch of homework! Time to clean my room! Time to catch up on blogging a bit! I hope.

Yesterday, my Grandpa Boyd passed away 14 years ago. I can't believe its been that long. It seems like it wasn't very long ago we would help him build a fire in the fireplace, he'd watch us jump on the tramp when the other adults didn't want to, I miss the morning breakfasts in the mountains. I remember how he used to shuffle playing cards, he taught me how to shuffle his way. He shuffled just by placing other cards randomly into the deck by hand. Its hard to explain but it was fun. I remember he gave me a shirt to wear for pajamas, it was a SeaWorld shirt. I still have it. I remember having sleepovers there all the time with all the cousins. I remember the 4th of July sleepover and waking up early that morning to walk over to Mt. Jordan and have their breakfast and then watch the parade, and later the fireworks. I love you Grandpa. Miss you.

Grandpa Boyd, gotta love his big ears

Yesterday kept getting worse. I needed to take a math test. It took me forever to drive down there because of traffic, there wasn't a parking spot, I had to walk far, I had to wait in line to get my test, and then the lady gave me the wrong test and couldn't find the right test for me to take. Then I get home and its time to go babysitting. Charlie was not happy, he cried for about 45 minutes. It was sad. Then, Sam would not go to sleep. He couldn't decide if he was tired or hyper. I get home, start cleaning my room a bit and Oliver, my sister's cat, decides to pee on one of my blankets. Then I pick the blankets up to wash, and there's a huge spider! It was an exhausting day.

I have been applying for a lot of jobs lately, mostly IHC jobs, and no one has called. I really need a new job. I hope I can find one by January. I think I can survive the holidays at Macy's, it will go by fast. January will just be torture. Anyone know of anyone hiring? Hook me up! :)

I'll definitely catch up on my blogging this weekend. You WILL have a Favorite Movie Monday. I missed this week's again. My apologies. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! I can't believe Thanksgiving is in less than a week! AH!! :)

Favorite Movie Monday

Speed starring Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, and Dennis Hopper

This is an old-time favorite of mine. I was only 6 years old when it came out. I loved Keanu Reeves in this. This was probably the action film that began my love for action packed films.

Just watching this trailer makes me want to go watch it! :)

Favorite Movie Monday

I have to start out with an apology for missing last week's Favorite Movie Monday. I was leaving early that morning for Phoenix to go see the U2 and Black Eyed Peas concert and I completely spaced it. I will post pictures hopefully sometime this week. School and work have taken over my life.

Children of Men starring Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine, and Chiwetel Ejiofor

All of the trailers on youtube, embedding is disabled. So that is unfortunate, here is the URL for the trailer if you'd like to watch it.

I love this movie. Its so amazing. Crazy and violent but deep and makes you think. Everyone should watch this movie. Its set in the year, 2027, the youngest person has just died and he was 18 years old. It spirals out of control from there.

Two memorable quotes from the movie:

Theodore Faron: I can't really remember when I last had any hope, and I certainly can't remember when anyone else did either. Because really, since women stopped being able to have babies, what's left to hope for?

Miriam: As the sound of the playgrounds faded, the despair set in. Very odd, what happens in a world without children's voices.

Favorite Movie Monday

Blood Diamond starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou, and Jennifer Connelly

Everyone should see this movie, it will tell them about diamonds and how crazy the world is for them. They don't realize what happens to the people that find the diamonds. Leonardo is amazing in it. I love the accent.

School is hard. I should be doing it right now. I will, after this post. My math class is difficult, I hate math. I just suck at it unless I'm doing it every single day. I already have a math test this weekend. I really like my medical terminology class so far, its getting harder. But its more fun than the others. My communications class is easy, we're doing a group project and I'm the Facilitator. Not really by choice, we went through 2 before I took the spot. Its annoying. My group is annoying me. Maybe I just don't like working in groups.. I don't know. Looking at my profile picture, I want to go play with that goat. I don't want to do school.

I need a haircut. I need my hair colored. I want to do it today. I hope I have time for it. I was supposed to go to a movie with my work friends, Rachael and Kaitlyn tonight. But it got postponed, so that's sad. I did get a new phone last night! Its an LG Dare and I absolutely love, love, love it.

It was my 12 year old brother's birthday yesterday. I didn't have time to post a blog about him. BUT HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIMMY!!! I love him. He is my favorite brother ever. We have so much fun. It was a good day. We got him a Hurley zip hoodie, the Die Hard DVD -- he loves those movies! And we got him some awesome AIR JORDANS. :) He also got the CDs he wanted from my parents, Jay-Z and the Black Eyed Peas, candy, and the LG Versa. He's going to be a Deacon now. SO crazy!

C'est tout pour maintenant. Au Revoir!

Music is good for the soul

So, I'm on twitter. I got a tweet quite awhile ago from Katy Perry to check out her friend, Jessie James. Well I finally checked her out! I kinda like it! Here's her "Blue Jeans" song, you've probably heard "Wanted" on the radio. Check out her myspace with more songs.

At work, they play this song that I've really started to enjoy. Its Morgan Page featuring Lissie, called the Longest Road. Here's the video:

And I really like Daughtry's song "Call Your Name" off his "Leave this town" album:

Hope you enjoy it! :)

My Mountain Goat friend, Rex.

Idaho was A LOT OF FUN!!!!! I didn't expect it to be as much fun as it was, but there were a lot of bonuses that weren't planned that made it extra special. We only had two days but we squeezed a lot of things into our short time there.

Wednesday, we left around noon to go to Idaho. We had to get my car all ready to go so we went to Jiffy Lube first. While on our way to Idaho Falls, where our hotel was and DAVID COOK.. We saw a sign for Frontier Pies. We got really excited because we love, love, love their cornbread. Its delicious! And we don't have any Frontier Pies here in Utah anymore so we decided we had to go and get some yummy cornbread. Then, we checked into our hotel and the front desk lady just went off about all the restaurants in the area.. That's pretty much all she told us. haha. We went to Sizzler for dinner and afterward, we made our way to Civic Auditorium to find amazing David Cook.

His opening act was a band called Crash Kings, they were good! They were different and they had that raw edge to any new and upcoming band which I love. Check them out! They were great. The concert was amazing! It was definitely one of my favorite concerts I've ever experienced and I would love to see Dave Cook again. After the concert, we stood outside the building and waited for David Cook to come outside. We only waited about 40 minutes or so and then he came out! We waited to get his autograph and pictures. He couldn't stop and pose for pictures so I had a genius idea to take a picture of each of us with him in the background signing autographs. It was so awesome! He was really nice! We also bought David Cook zip hoodies. Yay! :)

Thursday, we got up early and ate a not-so-satisfying breakfast at the hotel. It was no bueno! And I love breakfast food. We decided to check out Yellowstone Bear World. We've driven past it before but have never stopped there. We always thought the real Yellowstone is much better, which it is. But this place is so awesome! I loved it! I would definitely visit it again. They have this open air animal park/zoo sort of thing where you drive around (windows up, going 5 mph, and no stopping) and you get to see BEARS, Wolves, Elk (also a rare white elk which is leucistic - like white tigers; it is NOT albino), deer, buffalo, and mountain goats.

While driving, there just so happened to be an adult black bear strolling in the middle of the road. I couldn't go around him, there wasn't enough room. He would not get out of the way! You're not supposed to honk either, but if you must, honk three times. Well I slowed way down and freaked out a bit asking my sister "WHAT DO I DO?". Well she didn't answer, so I revved my engine a little and that scared the bear into a little run. Then he just walked again! He finally eventually moved out of the way so I could pass, but it was frightening.

They also had a petting zoo! There was this deer that chomped on my shirt and got it all wet. It was so funny! And there were these crazy chickens, turkeys, ducks, and a snoring pig. There was also this cute little mountain goat (young) that we fed and he followed us all around because he still wanted attention and food. I named him Rex. At one point, I was getting him more food out of the machine thing (like a quarter candy thing) and he wouldn't let me get it out! So I just let him eat it out of the little slot. There were also these bear cubs. They were so adorable! You can't pet them but you can watch them. You can also feed them but its $50 bucks (that we didn't have!)

Then, we went back towards Idaho Falls to eat at Frontier Pies. It was delicious! Our waitress was awfully strange but what do you expect? haha jk. It was a Frontier Pies that was in a gas station. We left there to go onto our next adventure, Balanced Rock. Its near Twin Falls and we saw a lot of cows on our way there. Balanced Rock is a wind-carved rock, that stands 48 feet tall, and weights FORTY TONS. It balances on a pedestal that is only 3 feet by 17 inches! It felt great to get out of the car and hike up to this awesome Rock!

We started to go back home through Wendover and stopped in this little town that looked deserted. Everything was closed! We ate at Burger King and there were these guys that were talking about unemployment -- kinda sad. We then slowly made our way through the Bonneville Salt Flats. That was pretty cool, except it was quite dark. So at times, we weren't sure if it was salt or water.

Here's a slideshow of our trip!

Jesse James

Oh, how I love the stories about Jesse James!

It would be his 162nd birthday today, Happy Birthday Jesse James!!

If anyone that is reading this, does not know who he is, look him up. There are so many movies about him, my favorite by far is American Outlaws, even if its not all the way right. There are so many legends about him. He was killed by the coward, Robert Ford.

I think this calls for a road trip to Kearney, Missouri. haha. And then I could go up to Indiana and see my other James (Dean). Happy Birthday Jesse Woodson James!

Idaho Falls, here I come!

I'm leaving for Idaho Falls today, I'm excited! Why am I going there, you ask? David Cook! My sister and I are going to his concert there! He is one of my favorite American Idols. I liked him ever since his audition. Idaho Falls isn't very far from where I live so I won't be gone long. Just 2 days. I was looking up what there was to do near Idaho Falls, I didn't find much. But I did find this rock called Balanced Rock. It looks pretty cool. Its a wind-carved rock that stands 48 feet tall and weighs 40 tons. It balances on a pedestal that is only 3 feet by 17 inches. Here's a picture!

Balanced Rock

There is also this Whispering Giant Statue. This guy is making all of these Native American statues all over the United States. They are pretty awesome. We have one here in Murray that I've seen. Here is the one in Idaho Falls!

Whispering Giant Statue

Then, there's also Craters of the Moon. There used to be Volcanoes in Idaho. Craters of the Moon says its a vast ocean of lava flows, it has cinder cones and sagebrush. And volcanic black ash of course. It looks awesome. There's Fort Hall - a Native American reservation. That's cool too! But I am most excited for the one and only:

David Cook

Yay for Road Trips! :) I love road trips.

Favorite Movie Monday

Requiem for a Dream - starring Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Ellen Burstyn

This movie is truly remarkable. Its such a powerful story about drugs and what they can do to you. Great acting! Jared Leto is amazing - I love this movie with him and I love his band. For those of you that don't know them, its 30 seconds to mars. They are coming out with a new album this year, I am excited! Give this movie a chance, its rated R for good reason - but what drug story isn't? Ellen Burstyn is fabulous in this!

Ken Salazar and wolves

I just learned about our Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar. I have to scream - "You disgust me, Ken Salazar!" He is such a hypocrite and flip-flopper. Yes, Pres. Obama appointed him, how I approve of Obama is in no question. BUT, this guy? Seriously? What he does -- He is in charge of the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the United States Geological Survey, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and other federal agencies overseen by the Interior Department.

7 things I like about him:
  • Democrat
  • he authored the Great Outdoors Colorado Amendment- this created a massive land conservation program
  • Created the Youth in Natural Resources program to provide for environmental education in public schools
  • Established reforms that forced mining and petroleum operations to better protect the surrounding environment.
  • He created new branches of law enforcement in Colorado - the Gang Prosecution Unit, the Environmental Crimes Unit, and the General Fugitive Prosecutive Unit
  • He worked to strengthen consumer protection and anti-fraud laws
  • Worked to protect children through new policy designed to crack down on sex offenders.
7 things I really don't like about him:
  • He considers himself moderate - he's more to the right - conservative
  • In 2005, he voted against increasing fuel-efficiency standards for cars and trucks
  • In the same year (2005), he voted against an amendment to repeal tax breaks for ExxonMobil and other major petroleum companies.
  • In 2007, he was one of only a handful of Democrats to vote against a bill that would require the United States Army Corps of Engineers to consider global warming when planning water projects.
  • He favors industry and big agriculture in battles over global warming, fuel efficiency, and endangered species
  • On March 6, 2009 Salazar agreed to move forward with the Fish and Wildlife Service's decision to remove the Rocky Mountain Gray Wolf from the Endangered Species List in Montana and Idaho, but not Wyoming. (There are only approximately 1,000 wolves alive and roaming -- this is the BIGGEST problem I have with him!!!)
  • He says, "The single greatest threat to the polar bear is the melting of Arctic Sea ice due to climate change." Yes, it has a lot to do with climate change, but does he do anything about that? NO!
I know I've blogged about wolves before. Well, you get to keep hearing about it because nothing has really changed. This year, Idaho officials have already sold more than 4,000 permits of an estimated 70,000 permits for a DEADLY wolf hunt that could kill at least 25% of the state's wolves this year ALONE. Just imagine, if all of those permits actually killed at least one wolf per permit. The wolves would be extinct. Tell me again, why aren't they put back on the Endangered Species List? Why is Idaho ALLOWED to do this? The hunt is scheduled to begin on next Tuesday. Read more about the Wolves' fight here in a previous post. TAKE ACTION - Click here, here, and here, please! Here are two videos:

Things always change

A few things have changed.

My work - more crazy. One of my favorite coworkers quit, another coworker quit, and another is giving her two weeks. That leaves only four of us including myself in the department. And one of them is on very thin ice, for very good reason. Its back to school time so its been hectic, insane, purely a madhouse. I hope we hire some new people soon! So if you want to work at Macy's with me, apply! haha.

My school schedule - I'm still taking Math, Physics, and Communications. But I've added Medical Terminology. I'm excited for that class. I think it just might be the most interesting of them all. I'm excited.

I worked for Nordstrom Rack Monday night doing inventory with my sister. LOVE extra money. But it was a pain. I have to say the people there are weird.

I bought some more shirts. I really have a spending habit now.

I babysat for those new kids two Sundays ago. It wasn't fun. I won't be babysitting them again, for my sake. The one boy sounded like a broken record tv show and his sister would copy everything he did. And they were just really annoying and I couldn't stand them. I did babysit for my regular lady Monday. Her kids are younger, but oh so much better. They are the best.

My brother has played football for Jordan for years now. I've always loved watching him play. I love going to the games even when its snowing! He wasn't going to play this year because he wasn't sure that he wanted to and he had a hernia. Well he is healing from his surgery for the hernia and now he wants to play football. Well it was after the deadline so my mom had to pull some strings. Last night, we heard the good news! Timmy is going to play football this year! And he'll be on a great team - the coaches are awesome. I'm excited! I just hope I get to go to a lot of them since I have a job that pretty much requires me to work Saturdays.

Timmy #6 in the middle running - awesome yardage in this game against Alta!

Favorite Movie Monday

Batman. The Dark Knight starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Michael Caine, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

I love all the Batman movies. I own them all. I loved watching the Batman movies while growing up. They were so awesome! But now my all-time favorite Batman movie is, The Dark Knight, of course. Its just an amazing movie and Heath Ledger really got into his character. I can't wait to see more of the Batman movies.

I am also excited to see Heath's other movie coming soon, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Out December 25, 2009.

10 things I hate about you starring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Larisa Oleynik

"There's a difference between like and love. Because, I like my skechers, but I love my Prada backpack." Bianca Stratford

This is such a great movie! I love it! I think its probably one of my favorite movies that Heath Ledger is in. (Besides The Dark Knight of course) Its such a funny movie. I have to say that I tried to watch the first episode of the new TV series, I did not like it.

I usually blog Monday, Wednesday, Friday lately. I missed Wednesday. :( My apologies.

My department at work just got a new manager. I finally met her and spoke my mind. Rachael and I told her a lot of what is going on in our department with certain associates. She seems like a really nice lady and knows what should happen. I hope it works out. Because it is NOT okay for an associate to take their two 20-minute breaks, an hour unpaid lunch break. and a 45-minutes to an hour breast pumping break every single day you work and get paid for it. It is NOT okay for you to leave whenever you want or not show up whenever you want. We do need coverage. Its so rude and disrespectful of fellow coworkers. Oh! And the Juniors department can now wear denim Friday, Saturday, Sunday until Labor Day! Not very long, but yay!

I got another babysitting job! Its 2 kids. One 5 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. They are cute. I met them today. I start on Sunday. It'll be every other Saturday. So I'm excited for the extra money! I still have my other babysitting job that I absolutely love!

I'm going back to school this Fall semester. I'm actually excited. Because this means I'm getting on track again to graduate. I'm going to take all my prerequisite courses so I can get into this Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at SLCC. Also known as, Ultrasound Technician. I'm excited!!! I'll also be taking other classes at UVU still so I can get my Bachelor's at the same time. Great news! I see that my school loan got approved for this semester! Its awesome because I do NOT have the money this semester for it.

I'm going to be taking Math - yuck!, Physics, and Communications. They don't sound so interesting but Communications is pretty easy.

I went shopping and bought some new shoes and some new shirts for work. I found some bargains! Yes! I went out to eat at Sizzler tonight with my family and it was delicious. I love love love their salad bar. I also got the Lily Allen CD, Its not me, its you. I love it! I especially enjoy the "F*** You" song! Its so awesome! Definitely give her a listen.

Have an amazing weekend! Things are looking up!

Favorite Movie Monday

American Outlaws starring Colin Farrell, Scott Caan, Ali Larter, Gregory Smith, and Kathy Bates. Tagline: Bad is Good again.

Oh, how I love the Jesse James story. This is my favorite movie version, yet! Even if its not historically correct, I love this movie. Its the first movie I saw starring Colin Farrell, and I've liked him ever since. I love all the comedy in it. My favorite scene is probable when Bob Younger gets frustrated with his WANTED poster sketch. Its not a very good sketch, so he gets angry. Its funny.

I think my backyard is infested with horned beetles. They are weird looking and actually fly. My kittens have figured out they want to eat them for some reason. Not sure why. I wonder if they taste good? Timon and Pumbaa like bugs... haha. They keep finding these beetles, attacking them, swatting them, even carrying them in their mouths to another destination, and finally; CRUNCH! They eat them. Its sort of funny to watch because the beetles fly out of their paws sometimes and they go crazy. They are so cute.

Favorite Movie Monday

The Recruit - its a bit confusing throughout the whole movie. You're not sure what is what or who is who which makes sense because of the Tagline: Trust. Betrayal. Deception. In the C.I.A. nothing is what it seems. Colin Farrell and Al Pacino are amazing in it.

100th Post

Wow! I made it! ONE HUNDRED posts! It took me a long time to get to this point, but I did it. I thought maybe I should do something special for my 100th post. I've already done a post with 100 things about myself that you can read here. I kept thinking what should I blog about? Bucket List of 100? 100 things I like? 100 things I dislike? 100 things I'm grateful for? They all sounded so boring.

Most commented blog: Ashley got a job!

Most controversial blog: Black-whites or Wildlife & Politics

Still boring. But I made it. Yay! One thing I've accomplished in the last 2 months is posting more than 3 blogs in a week. Maybe that means I don't have a life? haha.

Kenny Chesney's concert was great! I had a lot of fun! I loved hearing the songs I actually knew the words to. I also liked at the end where he did a bunch of cover songs. My favorite by far was "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley. The Wailers' Drummie Zeb sang this song with Kenny. It was awesome! Here are a few pictures from the concert:

My sister and I are planning to drive up to Idaho falls in September to go see David Cook. I'm so excited!

I'll have a blog soon about Las Vegas with pictures. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. :)

I'm also going to Lagoon today! Yay! Season Pass here I come!

Do you believe in miracles?

Whenever that question is asked, I think of that song. And it gets stuck in my head. My friend at work, Rachael, has had a tough year. Both her mom and her grandma passed away this year. Two weeks ago, one of her closest cousins was rushed to the hospital. He fixes cars and he bought this motorcycle from someone and he fixed it up. He decided to go for a test run to make sure everything was working properly. He began to speed off and when he needed to brake, he couldn't. He drove right into a brick wall. He has broken so many bones and his brain was swelling. He went into a coma. They didn't know if he would ever wake up.

Just hearing this story, makes me really sad and brings me to tears. They put her cousin on medication to sedate him because his brain was swelling so much. A few days ago, his family was thinking about pulling the plug because he wasn't functioning on his own. I couldn't believe they would think about this only 2 weeks in. Rachael couldn't either, she would have hated them forever if they had. She wanted them to wait longer, I would too.

Yesterday, she received a call at work from her husband. It was great news! Her cousin, Jimmy, woke up. He can't talk yet, but he's smiling. I'm so glad this happened. It would have been a terrible tragedy. He's not out of the woods yet, because they don't know how much brain damage he's had. But, he. is. awake. Its amazing! I hope he makes a full recovery. I'm so happy for her.

Frog Gigging

Red Eyed Tree Frog

So maybe I'm dumb, but I don't think I've ever heard of Frog Gigging until yesterday. So I looked it up and was pretty disgusted. Here's a description:

Frog gigging is often done with a four-tined spear. Four-tined spears are preferred for frog gigging, as they are normally wider giving the frog hunter more room for error when thrusting the spear-tipped gig at the frog.

Frog gigging is often done at night, however it can be done during the day. Traditionally, flashlights or spotlights are used to locate the frogs as their eyes reflect the light at night. In addition to help the locating of frogs, shining a light in their eyes stuns or daze the frogs, and makes it less likely for the frog to see an approaching hunter, or the incoming gig itself. A fishing license is required in most states and jurisdictions. Frog gigging regulations are usually found in each state's hunting and fishing regulations.

Frogs are often sought for the meat that resides on their hind legs. Frog legs are often cooked deep fried or sautéed. The hind legs can contain as much meat as the legs of a medium-sized chicken. Traditionally they are breaded with a mixture of egg and bread or cracker crumbs. Frog legs, often imported from Asia, are available at many restaurants or stores, particularly in the Southern United States.

Although capturing frogs with a net or clasp pole may be referred to as frog gigging by some, this is incorrect, as a gig is not being used. Handling frogs with the objective of releasing them may harm the creature because chemicals can easily be absorbed through their skin.

I know some people eat frog legs and I've always thought that was gross. My favorite animal used to be a frog. I love frogs. They are cute. I did my Great Brain Project on frogs in elementary school. I owned frogs. I think its sad and cruel. Maybe I'm just a crazy animal lover.

I'd like to add I'm glad Palin is finally out of office, I really hope she doesn't run in 2012. Yuck!

On a happier note, I saw the Ugly Truth last night with my friend Cheri. It was hilarious! Cheesy at times, but I liked it anyway. It has Katie Heigl and Gerard Butler in it.
